You realize (I hope) that a narrative is a construct of the imagination? LOL, I have to laugh at the knobs in the media that use it as if that means accuracy.
Narratives are our world models, it’s how we interpret reality and make sense of it. The problem is that it’s easy for these models to diverge from the actual material reality since most of the information we use to create our models doesn’t come from direct physical experience. Vast majority of the information is acquired through language, and that’s what makes media so powerful. It’s a tool that can shape people’s understanding of the world.
Western media has been engaging in crafting a narrative favorable to Ukraine for the past three years because the ruling class in the west wanted the war to continue. Now that the US wants to pull the plug on the war, we’re seeing a new narrative being formed to facilitate that.
No the narrative used by the government, (which is what we’re discussing here) is a story, not necessarily the truth. Nothing we’ve been told by the Biden government and other western governments is the truth. Nothing! Ukraine lost over a million soldiers. This is a terrible war, far worse than WW1. The reason peace is being discussed is only because if Ukraine doesn’t sue for peace, there will not be any Ukraine left. It will be split up between Hungary, Poland and damn forget the other country offhand.
Nowhere did I suggest that the government narrative is the truth. In fact, I explicitly pointed out that the government changes the narrative to facilitate the policy it wants to pursue. The reason peace is being discussed is because republicans wants to pivot to Asia. Had democrats won, they would’ve doubled down on keeping the war going. I very much agree that partitioning of Ukraine after the war is a very likely scenario.
That’s not the reason peace is being discussed. Ukraine has lost the war. It’s not in the USA’s interest to support a losing cause, especially when it’s nothing to do with defence of the homeland. It’s the old Cold War warriors in Washington who still think Russia is Soviet. Can’t wait for those dinosaurs to die off! The world will be safer without them.
The US doesn’t have a chance against China, and I’m speaking as a soldier with experience in these things. The only reason why China is a so-called enemy is that we can’t compete with them economically/commercially, so they must be destroyed. It’s sad how we think.
give it a few months, they’ll get with the new narrative

A narrative, by definition is NOT reality. Reasoning is what we use to interpret reality, and some have more of it than others.
That’s literally what I just said. A narrative is a world model we construct in our heads based on the information we consume.

That is what we mean. The narrative is the story told to the masses to accept whatever the (American) government wants to happen.
Well, not necessarily, what is happening currently too, even if it’s false.

I generally agree with all that, although I’d say that NATO lost their proxy war.
Romania is the other country. All three have claims on western Ukraine.
