The Alex Kurtzman clip they showed where he says that the utopia seen in classic Star Trek isn’t possible without people willing to do “dirty work” behind the scenes was fucking infuriating
Of course the Federation needs a secret space CIA to murder whoever stands in its way because that’s what America does
Literally just restating Sloan’s villain monologue but actually believing it
I had a SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP moment after hearing that
Fucking Kurtzman has been gooning about this Section 31 bullshit a decade at least.
I just want a workplace serial drama about a bunch of competent people doing their jobs aboard a starship and sitting around a conference table discussing interstellar politics or whatever.
Anybody actually know why Kurtzman is still in charge? I was under the impression that the initial movies that kicked off nuTrek weren’t even especially profitable, and nobody I know likes Discovery.
Maybe I’m overestimating the effect he has on the franchise. Lower Decks was good, after all, but the amount of misses drastically outweigh the hits.
i am also confused about who is actually watching new trek seems like everyone just hates it
There are more good new trek shows than bad ones, but the bad ones are really bad
Wasn’t strange new worlds supposed to be like decent enough?
Strange New Worlds is decent, Lower Decks and Prodigy are fantastic, and for a bonus The Orville is pretty good too. Discovery and Picard are the bad ones, and this Section 31 thing is just all the worst parts of Discovery distilled
