Not sure if OP is using British ambulance and fire engine on a post about the NSA on purpose or not.
Finally the correct version of this meme
Unfortunately, a lot of fire and EMTs are close with cops. They often work together in stressful situations, and they bond over their shared trauma of seeing fucked up tragedy. Even though they provide fundamentally different services, I’d avoid insulting cops in front of them.
Yep, the uniform seems to be a thing. However, the experience of social struggle is a thing too In France, after the police making their job (using gaz and punching people in struggle), firefighters fight back. This append several time, and have impact on public opinion (and main media bougeoisie)
Fun fact Firefighters lobby heavily for large roads (in the US) that contribute to increased traffic accidents…that they respond to. It’s the biggest part of their job.
I’ve seen this! Good recommendation!
It’s just job security.
One of my insane TV pitches is for Shonda Rhimes to start her own anti-copaganda show in the same universe as her Grey’s Anatomy and Station-19 (hospital and fire department, respectively).
Love her but she does a lot of convenient hand-waving as to what role cops play in the world her characters live in; other than a few one-off instances you would think cops live in a whole different dimension there.
With the prevalence of copaganda, Rhimes has an incredible opportunity, in my opinion, to investigate and expose the injustices of the police system using the world she has created on a national stage.
Now might be a good opportunity for something along those lines, but you’d still need a lot of favors to make an anti copaganda show, even for established producers. The biggest advantage for such a show is how angry a lot of black women are right now, including in that industry.
The election has lost the Democratic party a lot of faith from those who threw more support behind them than anyone. They are on thin ice now, and local failures from law enforcement will have political consequences that they never could’ve imagined before. There is more motivation than ever to rock the boat now that the ship is on the rocks.
if anyone knows shonda get us in touch we’re gonna make big things happen 🤘🤘
Yeah but no one ever wrote a hit one called “fuck the fire department”
Their job is not inherently immoral like for cops. They provide an essential public service
In addition to this; lots of people in the military are not fans of cops and as long as they aren’t a far right nutty they generally recognise the benefits of living in a socialised system that provides food, shelter, kinship and reward with a balanced paycheque. You know… Like the army does.
There are a surprising number of anti-establishment service members when you actually sit down and talk to them and break down the system they live in.
A lot of the military are fully aware of how the US fucks them, but still support it as a potential force for good. A majority hated Trump during his 1st term, and many will leave if he tries to use them again civilians during his 2nd.
US military is used against civilians all the time already? Syria and Yemen are the most recent examples. And that’s ignoring the military ‘aid’ sent to commit genocide on Palestinians.
Fair. I meant American civilians, as only they get to be considered full people sometimes 😒
Absolutely true. It’s funny that at a cursory glance military indoctrination seems to create mindless followers and yes men. In reality modern military ethos forces members to think critically, beyond orders and find intent. You end up forming bonds with people and creating a sense of “Service before self”. So you tend to think about the tribe more than yourself. At the end of the day the job is to protect the idea of a nation. No allegiance to any one political party or person. But a nation as a tribe.
So, you end up with a lot of service members that love their country and hate their politicians. After all, the politicians sign the papers that make people die.
Cops that work in under cover and narco teams often times leave the police at the end of their career and take “desk job” jobs from FDs. It can yield them two pensions, too.
