    Etch this in your brain:

    I do not consent to any search.

    If they’re asking you, they don’t have probable cause or reasonable suspicion, or whatever. If they do have probable cause, they don’t need to ask.

    Never consent to a search.

      I have been arrested in NYC.

      I repeated over and over “am I being detained?” and “am I free to go?”

      When they searched my backpack, I said several times “I do not consent to a search”. They heard me, and they asked if I was mentally ill and needed to be sent to a mental institution because I would say one of these lines in response to every question they asked me. They were threatening to book me in a mental institution for asserting my rights!

      They searched my shit, arrested me, locked me in a cage all night, and released me. I was charged with a bullshit crime, showed up in court, and the courts auto dropped all charges.

      Police in NYC are infamous for violating your rights, not to mention murdering people.
