Something’s up with the principal. She has an interest in getting all the regalia, but getting the regalia isn’t enough to open the treasure. She also wants to adopt Hizuki.

I mean there was also that weird nothing scene of the principal walking by.

And we also know that the principal, being a regalia holder, was able to sense that the Orb was in town, so why did she lie to Veltol, saying that the Orb was lost?

Adopting Hizuki would mean a merger between the clans and would be a way for her to own 2 of the 3 regalia.

Principal is definitely the most sus person we’ve met so far.

      Goblin guy was cool.

His story brings to mind the Japanese tradition of adopted sons taking over the clan.

Sometimes a Japanese lord would adopt the most talented of his non-blood relation underlings as their son, which made them part of the family.

The newly adopted son would take on the family name, with all the rights and privileges of a natural born son, including the right to inherit the clan lordship.

This ensured that the clan would have competent leadership, as opposed to the unreliable quality of genetic offspring.

See Elusive Samurai to see how relying on the latter turned out (not good).

Not too much happens this episode except some explanation of the McGuffins they’re searching for. I think the most interesting thing is that Hizuki’s Heterochromia seems to have some kind of effect on her. Like with voices and pain.

And then, in true Demon Lord 2099 fashion, we get blindsided by a silly joke at the end.
