Currently using racoons, it’s pretty good but I don’t like how searching for communities works. It treats them like posts which makes it hard to find what im looking for and it doesn’t show how active a community is so I can’t tell which one to go to (for example, meme communities that have no activity but a lot of subscribers).
Thanks this is the best lemmy app I’ve used yet
Thanks to you for the appreciation and for using the app, it really means a lot to me. I love Lemmy and I am really glad if I’ve managed to contribute even a tiny little bit to make this place nice for us all. This journey has made me grow as an individual (more than as a developer), I received a lot in terms of support, help, new friends, etc. and I hope to be able to give it back to the community.
yay
Currently using but not from fdroid. I am sticking to getting mine from obtanium.
If anybody here has switched to Racoon from Eternity, please let me know.
I would say that’s roughly me.
I’m not entirely convinced that eternity is in active development, despite the 2.0 release three months ago
A lot of FLOSS developers work in their free time (unpaid). I can totally understand if Eternity hasn’t had any activity within three months. Maybe they are busy or got bored of it. As long as it isn’t abandoned (which i’d consider after 12+ months of inactivity) I am still very happy with it.
Absolutely fair! I had been using Eternity, and after a long period of no development began preferring other apps. Other apps have since caught up, and offer other features. Raccoon offers a good user experience, is open source, and I like the direction of development. I regularly have a few different apps on my phone at any given time, but this is one that stands out to me as a user.
I like Raccoon and even considered switching to it after months of using Jerboa because other apps either weren’t as nice as it or as featureful as jerboa. Thunder is nice but lacks moderation tools and I feel like the boot up logo thing is slowing the app startup, I’d like to remove that please.
If Raccoon is a new app, then I’ll probably switch to it when it is a bit more mature.
Great news !
