Happy Birthday! Ok, it might not be a birthday in the strictest sense, but it has officially been one year since I made the first general discussion thread in [email protected] and was appointed as a moderator. Can you believe it? I don’t really have anything special to say about it other than to thank everybody here for being great members of the community. Thank you for this first year and I look forward to another year with all you goofballs. Also, special thanks to hitagi for creating the space for this community to exist (and handling a big chunk of reports before I even see them).

Just in case it wasn’t clear, you can absolutely use this thread the same way you would use any other general discussion thread. Let us know about things you have watched, ask about things you want to watch, show off some merch you just got, whatever. Go wild! (within the rules)

As always, remember to be mindful of spoilers. If you want to know more about how to handle spoilers in this community, check the guide here (also linked in the sidebar).

Crazy to see Netflix own 4 of the top 10 animes in reddit karma. They really seem to be going strong on anime as a growth engine.

Yeah, Netflix has been stepping up their anime game. They have gotten on board (mostly) with the weekly release schedule and even agreed to co-license a series like Dragonball Daima so that it also releases on Crunchyroll. I was worried that Crunchyroll was becoming a bit of a monopoly after the Funimation merger, but honestly Netlix is probably putting up a better fight than HiDive right now.

Probably best case scenario as a fan to be honest. Crunchyroll still is the best value for money (at least in the US) but having a big player like Netflix around should keep them on their toes. Netflix also treats anime so much better than Disney or Amazon.
