And it won’t even be over on Tuesday no matter who wins.

I just have to start distracting myself when it happens.

I’m not sure “my candidate is bad but the other is worse” is going to work again this time. Biden was pretty proud about his support of Zionism and Kamala has said that we’ll always support Israel when asked about the war.

I’m following the most left people in the US government who are saying they disagree with the current admin stance and Harris’ campaign position, but they support getting her in office to change her mind as much as possible. I get it, US position on this has been horrible for decades, 1947 was a terrible decision on the part of the controlling countries at the time, but we have to work with what will work, and that’s only one choice. It’s not a vote or support for genocide like some want to simplify it, it’s picking the side that is open to change.

Harris has said more than just we’ll support Israel, again it’s so much more complex than memes and armchair analysts can cover. I’d challenge anyone to compare what she’s said (or Biden since Harris isn’t President yet) vs. Trump and try to make the “both sides” argument work. The details are important, but they aren’t very soundbite or meme friendly.

I get it. Trump will be worse and has said worse about Palestine. I’m not doubting that. You don’t have to convince me of that. But I’m still voting third party because I’m not playing the game each cycle as Dems move further right until they become like Trump. Demand they make the right choice now if you’re worried about fascism.

Okay, so you’re a part of the problem. Voting third party is misunderstanding the trolley problem. There’s only two options, not pulling the lever to reduce suffering is still making a choice that increases the total amount of suffering.

Get this conservative pro-trump bullshit out of here. Third party candidates are funded as spoilers and the only message voting third party sends is that it was money well spent by the conservative party and foreign nations.

How does people voting for Jill Stein hurt Kamala? It sounds like you don’t really believe in having a democracy. Also, if third party is so appealing to conservatives like you allege, wouldn’t that be helping take votes away from Trump?

She’s a doctorate. Stein has very prestigious credentials. Look at how much money is spent on campaigns and the election and maybe you’ll understand why grassroot efforts are challenging. It is better for her to create grassroot efforts by going all in and running for President, which is her prerogative to do so. She’s put the effort in to follow the process to do so. Her supporters like me know she can’t win. That isn’t why I’m voting for her. It’s because voting for her sends a message that Democrats haven’t provided what we want in a candidate.

Are you seriously asking me how not voting for someone to be elected hurts their chances of getting elected?

You also completely misunderstood my second point as well. Third parties are appealing to the leaders of the conservative party because they divert votes away from the progressive party. They give anyone who finds the conservative party discomforting an opportunity to throw away their vote instead of helping the only other real contender thus increasing their chance of success.

I will have to assume you are a bot if you can’t engage in well meaning discussion.

Have you ever used AI before? Bots like those on X are dumb. They just recycle garbage. Why would you assume that if someone didn’t vote third party that they’d automatically vote for Harris? There are reasons people choose third party and it usually isn’t cause they want to vote for the establishment genocide supporter.

People choose third party because they want to send a message to their preferred established party or the party they would have voted for - but all it does is show the people funding these candidates that they’re effective spoilers when used correctly. You’re enabling the genocide by not voting in a meaningful way, Trump has said multiple times now he’s on the phone with Netanyahu trying to stop a cease fire and anyone with a brain sees that the fascist leaders are trying to stick together.

The fact that the Biden administration and the current Congress are still supplying weapons for this genocide is appalling and I hate them for it. But there are is more than one issue at stake and as I said originally voting third party is demonstrating a fundamental inability to understand the trolley problem. You cause more death and suffering when you vote third party or when you vote Trump. It’s plain and simple. You can reply to every comment with bullshit questions and try to justify what you did, but you didn’t think it through and obviously your vote alone doesn’t make a difference but you defending your bullshit online does. People read this and you might encourage another person who’s on the fence to vote third party and in doing so multiply the pain and suffering you caused.

Trump would cause Ukraine to lose more lives, Israel would go on killing without fear of losing supplies, any other strong arm leader would have no fears about the US intervening, more women in the US would die to healthcare issues, immigrants in the US will continue to experience worse and worse hate crimes until they get rounded up and deported (or worse) as Trump said he wants to, journalists, democrats, _and real third party leaders _ would be in danger as Trump has said he wants to execute his opponents, the police will continue to be militarized at an accelerated rate, progressive climate change policies will be stopped/neutered and we’ll lose decades of potential progress causing untold amounts of suffering, on and on and on.

Get your head out of your ass and think about the big picture. Show some fuckin empathy for others. You fucked up by voting like the only people in the world were Palestinians, that’s fine and noble in an extremely immature and futile way, but shut the fuck up before other people follow suit and people die because you didn’t think things through to completion.
