Last weeks thread here

Welcome to this week’s casual kōrero thread!

This post will be pinned in this community so you can always find it, and will stay for about a week until replaced by the next one.

It’s for talking about anything that might not justify a full post. For example:

  • Something interesting that happened to you
  • Something humourous that happened to you
  • Something frustrating that happened to you
  • A quick question
  • A request for recommendations
  • Pictures of your pet
  • A picture of a cloud that kind of looks like an elephant
  • Anything else, there are no rules (except the rule)

So how’s it going?

We ended up purchasing a new car (I know it doesn’t make the best financial sense, but oh well) and the dealers advised it will be ready for pickup early next week (it’s just come off the ship), and they’re asking for payment by tomorrow, which they are obviously doing so that they can get this sale in for the month.

Given that it’s a brand new car (with all the warranties etc) and that it’s due in a few business days, and that they are a very large dealership (and they’ve been decent to deal with so I wouldn’t be against helping them to get the sale in this month), is there any reason I shouldn’t? - never purchased a new car before.

I just purchased a new car as well and like you it was the first time. Mine needed to be registered and they couldn’t do that until they received full payment because they registered it in my name. As I was picking up during the weekend they couldn’t just do it when I picked it up as there admin person only worked during the week.

I had reservations about fronting up with payment before I got the keys but it made sense once they explained it. They probably want to take care of all the paper work so you can walk in and out without a lot of faffing about.

That’s reassuring to hear. Thank you for that :)

How’s your new car experience been compared to previously owning used cars?
