Would it be of use to have a separate community to discuss the more nuanced side of the sport’s technical regulations, lest those who find that less accessible not get lost when the subject comes up? I’d be happy to get that spun up, and post my dives into different parts of the regs every other week or whatever.

I hope Lemmy will grow enough to warrant a split like that eventually, but for the moment I don’t think the user base exists.

The main reason F1technical exists on Reddit is that the main F1 sub is so huge that any specifically technical posts would simply disappear, drowned out by all the faff. I don’t think the Lemmy F1 sub is at that point yet, so you’ll probably get more traction for your posts if you just put them here.

…and post my dives into different parts of the regs every other week or whatever.

Please do this, however! I’d be very interested to read that.

Thank you for the feedback! This is actually why I asked about it, so that I wouldn’t just needlessly do something that hurts the community.

Just keep it here for now imo, due to community size like others have said. Ask your Qs here and see how it goes?

One way to distinguish the posts you describe is to add a hashtag so others can use it either to find or to filter that content.

Whilst hashtags don’t work on this platform (yet), they can still be used to identify and search for information.

At some point it might get implemented into the UI as it is on other platforms and your content will ready to go.
