Sylvia Rivera, born on July 2 in 1951, was a Latina American queer rights activist, member of the Gay Liberation Front, and community worker from the state of New York.

Rivera, who identified as a “half-sister”, participated in demonstrations with the Gay Liberation Front. With her close friend Marsha P. Johnson, Rivera co-founded the Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR), a socialist group dedicated to helping homeless young drag queens, gay youth, and trans women.

At different times in her life, Rivera battled substance abuse and lived on the streets, largely in the gay homeless community at the Christopher Street docks. Her experiences made her more focused on advocacy for those who, in her view, mainstream society and the assimilationist factions of the LGBT community were leaving behind.

Rivera died during the dawn hours of February 19th, 2002, at St. Vincent’s Hospital, of complications from liver cancer. Activist Riki Wilchins said this of her: “In many ways, Sylvia was the Rosa Parks of the modern transgender movement, a term that was not even coined until two decades after Stonewall”.

Libs are literally babies. I’m so sick of hearing about this project 2025 stuff. “it will be the end of democracy if trump wins” and then you try to engage them with like “If this is such a big threat, does it compel the Biden administration to take extraordinary steps to prevent Trump from taking office” or “should they take any steps to hinder a trump administration, like dismantling security and surveillance apparatuses that could be used to target the vulnerable, or installing democrat loyalists with marching orders to hinder trump’s goals” and it’s not even that they think that’s absurd, they literally don’t understand how those things are connected to trump, day 1, flipping the switch to dictatorship.

I asked a big Democrat career state department guy who was shouting Trump will be the end of democracy what we should do if Trump none the less wins: engage in alternative or insurrectionary politics or just vote harder next time in a environment where he’s saying now it won’t matter. Guess which he said.

Its so wild to me that libs still believe in this made up atrocity, when we’ve had an actual atrocity livestreamed to us for the past 8 months. Honestly kind of infuriating.

Toronto Pride got interrupted by protestors for Palestine. Which is great, the rest was cancelled, No Pride in Genocide is the correct stance to take because all of these struggles - the struggle for gay lives, the struggle for trans lives, the struggle for Palestinian lives, etc - are all rooted in the same oppression.

But you wouldn’t guess that on good ol “progressive” /r/onguardforthee! Same tired liberal zionist trash about how those evil gazans would have our heads on pikes, or how Pride parades shouldn’t be interrupted by leftist causes because of optics, etc.

Except, fuck your corporate Pride and fuck the corporations who wanna rainbow wash their crimes. They should feel lucky we aren’t throwing bricks anymore, fuck you for thinking you can tell US how to celebrate Pride month or how I should feel about Palestinians. Suck my removed cock 🖕

The President is an elected dictator who can kill anyone he wants, but his regulatory agencies can’t do anything. Interesting theory of executive power.

The current president is ostensibly against p2025 but half the shit in it was implemented during his admin, and he’s also just been handed carte Blanche to do whatever he wants to stop it but won’t and that why you gotta vote for him

I told my toddler about the supreme court rulings. They had tears in their eyes. They did the Fortnite dance and said “Skibidi Ohio” – which is the sort of pop culture crossover that I can celebrate.

Radlibs when Joe Biden kills about a hundred thousand Palestinian children and a hundred thousand adults:

Radlibs when Keir Starmer is in talks with GCs:

Why is the lesser evil tolerable when they’re committing genocide against Palestinians, but when they’re a TERF that’s too far? And it’s crazy because as we’ve pointed out in here about 100 times, Joe Biden does not care about trans people and has done absolutely nothing about the transphobic policies being enacted in red states. Why does he get a pass? Does Labor just not have bot farms?
