Sadly, with the constant increase in vehicle sizes, what was regarded as a ‘gas guzzling’ monster truck from 17 years ago(?) in the video clip, well, that is now an average size SUV today.
Added to that, SUVs are now the default vehicle type,. replacing more fuel efficient sedans, station wagons and hatches.
If you showed anyone from around the turn of the century what the vehicle traffic looked like now, they would lose their minds.
I understand why people want bigger cars - they’re more comfortable and safer (for them, neglecting climate change but they don’t believe in that either), but unfortunately they come with much bigger engines needed to make the car at least seem like it has some utility or to account for the poor aerodynamics of the thing. I would imagine that the most off-roading any of these owners do is parking on the grass so they can pressure clean their driveway
