Been hearing about this one since 2020 at least. From what I’ve read it sounds like it’s most likely not prion related, but people are suggesting environmental contamination from either the Irvings or Glyphosate

    One thing many people might not know is that the part of New Brunswick that seems so disproportionately affected is also one of the poorest. Little remaining industry, marginal fisheries, low-earning population that’s also older and more trusting in the Irving newspaper monopoly’s editorials. The only people who are determined to figure this disease out are either medical researchers and local working-poor residents, neither of which are politically influential. The wealthy in other parts of the province either want the cause buried to protect their wallets, or just plain do not give a shit about the poors.
