No one else was maintaining this spot so I decided to grab a shovel and fix it up. Progress so far:
- Re-faced a few jumps
- Fixed drainage problems in a berm
- Cleared out vegetation on a gap and working on sizing the lander appropriately for the speed
- Added some dirt to a roller set to make it more fun to rip
Progress shots:
Thanks for doing this! I’ve wanted to get plugged into a group that does this type of thing.
Sometimes you just have to be the group. This trail was all but abandoned so I decided to just get out there and fix it.
I’m always a fan of drainage work - time well spent, but everyone just wants to build jumps…
It’s the most important consideration, IMO. Jumps are fun when they run fast enough. Nothing ruins speed like gloopy, poorly draining trails.
Amen!
I’m jealous of how much good material you have to use there. I’ve just started trying to fix up a trail local to me and the ground is more rock than earth, I’m having to carry a lot of earth from the surrounding areas, where ever it can be found and had!
