If you need support, best is to not DM me here or mention me in comments. I now have 300 notifications and probably no time to read them soon. Also I don’t do moderation so any moderation questions I have to forward to the moderation team.

where to get support

There’s the [email protected] community, and another option is to send mail to [email protected]. Mail is converted to tickets which can be picked up by admins and moderators.

Thanks! Enjoy your day!

Hello, I recommend you make the M (moderator) green and A (administrator) red, just like how Reddit handles mod and admin distinguishing. The current indications don’t make sense, and following Reddit’s way of coloring the indications seems much better. Reddit’s way also follows the RGB coloring scheme, where OP is blue, M is green, and A is red.

Thanks for all this. Should we open tickets for general website issue reports, where we don’t need individualized help? There were a few threads for that in the past.

If you have a ticket system (assuming it isn’t Github Issues), why not open it so people can submit stuff directly?

Does 2FA work? It’s a real janky implementation that doesn’t even require the confirmation of a 2FA code before it’s enabled. But I tried logging into my account using incognito mode and it wouldn’t let me with 2FA enabled and I had the right code. I think this needs to be looked at before people start getting locked out of their accounts.

To piggyback on this. On this very account, I was updating my displayname, and accidentally clicked on “Enable 2FA”, then clicked save. It saved.

Then I went back and unchecked it cuz I didn’t want it. Clicked save. It saved. Thought all was well.

Went back like an hour later to log in on Chrome, and it’s asking for a 2FA code that doesn’t exist.

I’m still logged in on all the apps (how I’m replying right now), but can’t sign in anywhere else now to change any settings or anything.

If possible, I’d like to keep the account and save a lot of trouble, but if not, I’d like to have the account completely deleted so I can reclaim the username. Don’t even care about the content I have created really.

Anyone else see a different user name where their name is for like a split second before it registers as you? It only happens if I leave the lemmy window up for a long time and then hit refresh.

not to pile on, but woof. really love lemmy and happy to work hard to build a community here. Lemmy.world was a great general instance when I hopped on so started there and was going great until 0.18

0.17 had bugs, sure, but it ran, it loaded.

but goodness… I made a lemm.ee account this morning and tested it replying to a lemmy post on both. lemm.ee reply posted immediately. My lemmy.world reply to that? still spinning

To get my community to load. I clicked it, got no page, one refresh got the page and icon, 2nd refresh finally got the banner too.

Is it all down to too many users? I’d move my community to help, but I don’t think that’s possible yet.

*edit, I actually couldn’t reply to this thread from lemmy.world, so now copypasta’d it to post from lemm.ee

oh wow. So, posting this TOO lemmy.world FROM lemm.ee also took forever, but finally posted. Posting too lemmy.world FROM lemmy.world never posted, just a spinning reply button for 30 min until I closed the tab.

Hm, maybe I should do the same (and if it’s helpful to spread the load across instances anyway?). I try to comment and never able to (always a network error or some other error on both jerboa and wefwef). Let’s see if this comment even posts lol

it does! yes, you should try making account in other instances

it’s kinda sad that our subscription doesn’t carry over but c’est la vie

I’m hoping some clever app dev creates a feature to auto-pull your subscriptions across accounts.

I’m seeing lots of posts in German and lots of posts that just contain pictures of gigantic breasts. I don’t speak German and I haven’t been interested in breasts since I was an infant. Is there any way to filter out the languages that I don’t speak as well as NSFW posts?

In your settings you can de-select ‘Show NSFW’. I think you can also select the language there but I haven’t tested that

I think I managed to remove NSFW content, but I have no idea if I managed to fix the language issue, that menu needs a lot of work. Thanks Ruud!

Thank you. Do you have a job? As I can imagine if Lemmy blows up - ie. millions of users - you may want to quit it.
