  • There’s no easy fix for this

You can start by being honest and transparent.

This is only a misinformation problem because there is a trust problem.

There is only a trust problem because of a long history of repeatedly breaking that trust.

The absolutely last thing you want is for regulation to limit speech of the influencers. You want to give them no reason to think there is foul play. You have to fight it with the truth.

Remove corporations’ and political parties’ right to privacy. Privacy is for humans. Everything else goes on a public ledger.

Make all scientific publications public and free forever. Science should not be paywalled.

Always mark (not remove) misinformation and enforce a notification system on all platforms to users who saw content that later turned out to be misinformation. Always provide evidence for why it was misinformation. Make reading the misinformation notifications mandatory to keep your social media account.

  • This. Why would anyone want their private conversations, out there? Don’t put your password in you will. Put a dead man switch on your PC.

If it is to close down a social media account they can contact the company directly.

If it is to take out money, they can contact the bank directly.

If it is to inform contacts, they can live without knowing.

If it is to cancel subscriptions, you’re going to have to send letters, wait in a phone call for hours, and cancel the credit card either way because of scummy cancellation practices.

  • I haven’t downplayed death threats. It was a conversation where someome falsely alleged that someone else had received death threats, which had no evidence, and the person in question never even claimed they had received any.

The rest is just me calling out misinformation about black myth wukong (the sexism allegations that turned out to be mistranslations) and about the harassment campaing against Sweet Baby Inc, bias in gaming journalism, etc.

I’ve never taken a specific political stance in any of their conversations. I just am against misinformation and censorship and call them out when they happen.

The reason I’m against what your post is about, is because ADL were extremely dishonest in their findings, and I think they’re biased or politically motivated to implement restrictions that require users to give up more private information about themselves, or not be allowed free speech.

And no, I didn’t break any rules either. Every ban I’ve faced have all been completely unjustified, which is why I’ve blocked most of the communities I’ve been banned on. It’s like being banned from hexbear and you saying that makes me deserve to get my account removed. The little information you get out of that modlog only shows the mods being biased.

And you would know about biased mods, seeing as you yourself have been banned and then called out after making a thread about it. It isn’t all black and white. I’m not interested in who was right in that post, you or the mod, but you get my point.

  • Count the number of tiles in front of you, solve some math problems in your head, think about what to do next saturda- shit, some guy just moved next to me. Is he looking? Maybe I should pull out my phone and check lemmy. …but then people will think I’m recording them piss, and the fact that I’m still not pissing will further justify their suspicions. Maybe I should just pretend to have a small coughing fit and that’s why I can’t pee. But then people will start looking, and maybe even worry I’ll spray them accidentally. Oh the guy finished peeing. I’ll just wait until he leaves the room then. Oh another guy just entered. Well, he doesn’t know anything so I’ll just pretend I finished peeing and hold it in for the rest of the day.
