ive noticed several communities being moved off of .ml because of overacting mods shitting their own beds (my fav movies comm being one of them). kinda the whole point of the 'verse. i also noticed a recent sync in-congruence from .ml to .world which indicates some kind of funny business… purposeful or not

the locals at .ml seem to have this notion that theyre too big to fail, which is patently not true considering the tiny size of the fediverse overall.

id recommend users utilize a ‘home’ instance thats more of an onramp than local-content curation… (https://moist.catsweat.com/ being in this category) they tend to not defederate from any instances so users can easily switch subscriptions when shit goes sideways in the content-heavy servers without making new accounts.

kbin shit its own bed. i know as i financially contributed to kbin and was very hurt when ernest went fucking nowhere with it. how many kbin servers are there? zero. there are zero.

the current mbin open source project is community based using community standards of contribution, has had loads of contributors and does not belong to melroy.

some are just under-powered and cant handle the influx from big places like .world. then sometimes when theres downtime, it takes an extra amount of time to ‘catch up’

.world will also stop trying for 24 hours if it detects a sync failure (no connection, etc) for long enough. moist.catsweat.com is up to date.

but even if you wanted to run that, you cant because they wont release the software or interact with foreign relays.

they dont even let you choose to grab the 4.8tb which is <10% of my home storage
