  • You sound like you’ve never had to care for yourself or a home a day in your life, and have no idea how the real world functions for anyone but the most privileged and entitled.

You’re in for a real eye opener once you venture out on your own (or not, if you have the kind of privilege that would generate this mindset, I have a feeling you’ll always have someone to go around after you cleaning up your messes and you may never get the slap in the face from reality you so desperately need).

  • Thank you for your reply, I genuinely appreciate it. Calling out ableist language is often met with resistance, defensiveness, and even ridicule, so it’s always really nice and encouraging to get a positive response.

That activity you did at the youth centre sounds incredible, and I wish that kind of thing was an essential part of every child (and adult)'s education, little things like inclusive language (E: and the improved attitudes and lesser stigma that come with it) are the foundation we build a better society on.

But as you say, we were all, disabled (in which case we have to grapple with internalised ableism as well as lateral) or otherwise, socialised in an ableist world, so that kind of language is the default, and it takes a conscious effort to avoid, and even when you do, we all slip up once in a while we’re only human, it’s about how we deal with the slip up that matters (getting defensive and doubling down vs learning and growing).

    Thanks again. <3

  • Yup. If I actually want to read an article and it isn’t a site I already know isn’t too bad, I’ll right click copy the link and put it in the archive machine to get to a readable version of it. I really don’t think they can blame us at this point for not wanting to click every shitty clickbait headline, nor is it necessarily a bad thing that people aren’t (especially people who don’t use adblock and just accept cookies to make the shit go away. With the quality of reporting on most of these sites, they’re definitely not getting a good deal)

  • He’s already won the election. He doesn’t have to keep posturing like this.

That was never his end goal, and you’re naive to think otherwise.

As for the rest, you’re missing a key step - to get them all “deported”, first they need to be rounded up, and put in camps (we already past this point a while back), and then since they’re already in camps, they might as well be put to work. For free (another point we’ve past). When they start dying off in big enough numbers for it to affect production, there will be another group marked for “deportation” and rounded up for their turn.

This isn’t fascism’s first fucking rodeo, and it isn’t only now getting started, it has been in motion for a good while now.

I’m not sure from a mod or admin point of view (while I am a mod in one community as a backup, I’ve not done any moderating myself), but I know that if you block a person on your own account, the only indication they’d have is that you don’t reply.

From what I understand it’s actually quite a difficult issue to address on the fediverse, since content is mirrored on so many instances, deleting or blocking it on one would have very little to no impact on other instances, and obviously ban evasion is much harder to spot, since anyone can open as many accounts on as many instances as they like. I would imagine it makes it really hard to stay on top of shit that comes in, especially the worst things like abusive content containing children.
