Meat won’t be the only impacted ag industry. A lot of fruits and vegetables still require hand picking and packing. The only product that is largely automated from start to finish is grain. Maybe potatoes, too.

Do they? I’ve been driving Subarus for over 25 years. Up until my newest one (a 2020 model) they all had the gasketed frameless windows, and I never had problems with water leakage. I suppose if the gaskets are old enough or exposed to UV enough they could wear out and need to be replaced. But that seems like a wear and tear issue and very minor in comparison to a potential deathtrap design.
Naturalized immigrants, who do vote, often have family members and/or friends that are now on the chopping block. A lot of them voted for Trump thinking they were getting rid of the “bad” immigrants.
Just to be clear, they can’t legally search your phone at all without either consent or a warrant. There is absolutely no reason you need to hand your phone to a cop during a traffic stop, no matter how it is secured.
Dude didn’t even make it a full month on the force before doing something so needlessly violent that he got fired and charged. Way to pick 'em.
In their minds, this is more akin to deprogramming.
I wouldn’t hold out too much hope. They’re also preparing to purge the military leadership:
Sure, but why not just lead with a negative assertion instead of implying that there’s an open question? The question implies that there is controversy, even when none exists.
Fact Checking RFK Jr’s False Claims About Fluoride
Would be a perfectly acceptable headline.
I don’t know how they’re doing it in Florida. My kid’s high school enacted a new phone policy this fall. Every classroom has either one large plastic storage bin, or smaller ones at each group table. When the kids arrive in class, they put their phones in the bins and they don’t come out again until the end of class. Very simple, and from what I’ve heard from the teachers and students, reasonably effective. If there’s an emergency they can be quickly accessed. Meanwhile, the teachers are all reporting a lot more student-to-student interaction, better attention, and less disruptions.
Contraception is never 100% effective, which is one of the many reasons why abortion is necessary healthcare. I’ve seen many misogynists suggest women should just keep their legs closed. Seems like that’s what they’re deciding to do.
Fruit and vegetable producers that rely on migrant labor are going to be double fucked.
A lot of people are playing the blame game right now. I haven’t seen much planning for how to do better going forward. Maybe that’s part of the problem.
Hey, I have an older version of the same case. Very solid choice.
I think the “logic” is that if things are too expensive to import then companies will start manufacturing them domestically and create jobs. But that almost never works out. An economist could probably explain why better than I can.
I do know that the better approach is to support those industries here. That’s why we recently dumped a bunch of money into the CHIPS and Science act.
Aw… we used to have a ginger tabby that would get up on my desk to get my attention while I was gaming. She sadly passed about 8 years ago. I still miss her.
And yet, 56% voted to put Trump back in the white house. The guy who made such restrictive abortion laws possible in the first place. I just don’t understand people.
Even if all they do is make it illegal for school districts to require enrolled students to be vaccinated (or at least have a waiver), then the result is that vaccines will be dramatically less effective at preventing disease.
This quote from your link really pisses me off:
“He says, ‘If you give me the data, all I want is the data, and I’ll take on the data and show that it’s not safe,’” Lutnick said. “Let’s give him the data. I think it’ll be pretty cool to give him the data. Let’s see what he comes up with. I think it’s pretty fun.”
THAT’S NOT HOW FUCKING SCIENCE WORKS! You don’t get to start with the premise “it’s not safe” and then go looking for data to support your premise. You start with the data and go where it leads you. That data is already available, BTW, and has been for ages. RFJ Jr has already been shown the data and refused to accept it many times. He’s convinced that some nameless agency is hiding the Truth from him.
Also, the idea of completely upending agencies that deal with public health so you can enforce your personal pet conspiracy theories is not “pretty fun.” It’s nightmare fuel.
Trump won’t have the authority to pardon him for this. It’s a local, civil case.
They tried, but he keeps moving shit.
You’re putting words in my mouth. I was responding directly to your point about how undocumented immigrants can’t vote and nothing else. I feel very bad for the people that are going to be affected directly. Honestly, everyone is going to be affected in some way.
