Ultimately it is a split second decision and Hooper is unlucky in that he looks foolish here, but stopping the advantage is probably correct 9 times out of 10 given the City players’ positions. He also can’t really afford to wait for the result of the ball that Haaland plays because at that point it will have been too late to bring it back.
