Switched to Roku years ago and never looked back. Very happy with the way Roku supports their older models. I’m still using a Roku 3 that is supported for all apps.

    Was this worth a post?
A new apple tv just sticking in a new chip, MAY be lower in price… Let us all rush and buy it, lol.

I really only want AV1 support and I’m set. It’s the only reason I would go to new hardware from my current 4K.

Apple needs to bring serious gaming to the Apple TV, way more storage, and release an Apple gaming controller.

My bet is that they’ll bring over RE4, RE Village and Death Stranding. I found it odd that they’re announcing these tier 1 games, but only on iPhone and iPad, when these games were all originally console games, and they weren’t announced on Apple’s (closest to a console device) AppleTV with the PS and Xbox controller support.

I could see them hitting that price but doing it like they do MacBooks. Maybe offering the base 2022 version for that much, then the new one at 150 with the updated chip for more gaming power and ray tracing, and the 170 model with Ethernet and thread and more storage.

My 4k Apple TV is the worst piece of tech I’ve bought in the last 10 years. Would buy again.

I’ll only get a new apple tv once they get trueHD support, otherwise I’ll stick with my 2nd gen 4k

Wtf are you talking about? Apple Lossless(literally in the name), FLAC (L stands for lossless), AIFF (the format CDs use), and WAV are literally lossless formats.

They have to put Apple A17 on it, since its only chip with hardware decoding av1.

Yeah don’t see them putting such a new processor next year. Maybe in 2025. That would be the only reason worth upgrading if you got the new apple tv 4ks from the last few years.

A lot of us are still using 2015 era AppleTV’s, if your TV isn’t 4k, not much season to upgrade. 1st generation 4k’s are hitting 5 years old now.

I know some folks on the AV forums seem to upgrade TV’s every 2 years but most people are on more like a 10 years or until it dies cycle.
