A dedicated app only to separate classical from other music it’s just a way for Apple to say ‘we’re out of ideas’
Looks pretty good. I wish there was a bit more going on with the UI though.
Spotify used to have an awesome iPad UI years ago that they’ve since gotten rid of. It started with a standard high level sidebar, but then each menu would expand into another sidebar, so you could see the entire chain of menus at once and browse them all at once. The ‘Now Playing’ was fixed to the other side of the screen. It felt great to browse and was so much more dynamic than this ‘one screen at a time’ method.
Thanks for posting. Downloading now.
I am just thankful that Apple is investing in classical music because I can’t imagine this app moves the revenue needle at all. Sure there could be better features up front. Hopefully Apple will keep adding new features going forward.
It still baffles me that despite having separate apps for „normal” music and classical music the regular app still has recommendations for classical pieces. I don’t use Apple Music anymore but for the brief time I’ve been using it it made no sense to me. It would’ve been so much better if one could separate their desires to listen to regular and classical music with separate apps.
I don’t think the line between normal and classical music is as clear cut. It’s fine to have a classical music app that might include music some people don’t consider classical, but I’d argue it’s a pretty bad show to have a main music app that excludes music that some people do not consider classical.
And an argument could be made for third app for non-classical music only - but I personally don’t see much value in that.
Finally. But why not right from the beginning, and why still not for the other platforms like Mac? It seems un-Apple-like to have a fragmented feature like that.
Great. Now how about MacOS? The one all my fancy DACs and amps for speakers and headphones are plugged into…
Still need CarPlay support.
I’ve been having the classical app crash on random songs on iphone so meh
I wonder why Apple couldn’t put the journal app on the App Store and do a simple update to support iPad in the future
Finally. But still not on the Apple TV.
Just saying, it’s not as dramatic as you put it. The content is accessible on Apple Music as usual, it’s just that if you want special classical-specific views, then use Classical App…
Or CarPlay
Great!
I would love an Apple Music Jazz app.
Better late than never I suppose…but it is really baffling why this wasn’t a universal app to begin with. What is the point of all the universal app APIs if Apple can’t be bothered to use them?
Good to see they haven’t forgotten about the app. Hopefully now they can work on implementing missing basic features.
