Two members of Moms for Liberty, a right-wing activist group, have reported several Florida school librarians to law enforcement. They claimed they had evidence that librarians were distributing “pornography” to minors and requested that law enforcement officers be dispatched. This represents a serious escalation of the tactics deployed by members of Moms for Liberty against school librarians.

These right wing groups have fundamentally altered my perception of the meaning of the word liberty.

Welcome to the club. Used to be happy to see my country’s flag, now it usually denotes some wingnut who would burn it down just to spite others. I’m Canadian

Do it enough times and you’ll get the officer who cares, and they’ll be so annoyed they’ll look at past calls.

I’ve had to deal with a harasser who was also making false calls to the police about me. Most cops suck, but eventually you get one who does their job.

That’s basically what the cops told me. Let him annoy more officers and they’ll start letting them know this way. They also started to take lunch on our street just to let him know they were there.

It was pretty wild. I guess cops are lazy and bored!

Filing charges on these wingnuts is their wettest of wet dreams. They get to play the victim card and call press conferences to scream about how they are maytrs for the cause and fighting the libs. It would validate their existence as they cosplayed every Fascist fantasy.

Cops don’t want to deal with this bullshit either. Take a report that will be filed and forgotten forever to placate them. You would really need to be a persistent asshole wasting a lot of their time before they are going to charge you.

Tapley told Popular Information that Vicki Baggett, an English teacher in Escambia County, has been “helping us.” Baggett, who Popular Information interviewed earlier this year, has challenged hundreds of books in public school libraries, including many that have LGBTQ characters or address racism. Baggett told Popular Information that she challenged When Wilma Rudolph Played Basketball — the inspirational story of a Black woman who overcame racial prejudice to become an Olympic champion — because it would make white students “feel uncomfortable” as "they are being white-shamed.”

Like what the actual fuck is with these loons, people like her are why the Germans were forced to observe and cleanup camps after WW2. If it makes you uncomfortable maybe try and learn how not to be a racist, imaginary-friend worshiping fuck.

I don’t know how to define pornography, but I know it when I see it. There’s none of it in any damn school library.

    FTA:

"Tapley told Popular Information that any book that has a “sex scene” is pornography and not “appropriate for minors.” ’

The correct response to that is “I see, I’m sorry you’re an idiot, your opinion isn’t valid. Shut up and go away.”

Why is it the people most likely to yell “pornography!” don’t actually seem to have ever seen actual pornography?

Do… do you think she knows the Bible has sex scenes?

I think, instead of reading the bible, she goes to church every Sunday and let a man who’s committed most of those acts summarise it for her.

80% of self identified Christians in America haven’t read the bible cover to cover.

They base their entire identity on a fucking book they haven’t even read. They just go listen to some asshole tell them what to think, and say “yup, that’s what I’ll base my idea of morality on!”

80 percent of voters haven’t read political theory.

Religious delusion and ignorance isn’t really unique. Nobody actually meets rigorous standards of knowledge for anything they ascribe to.

Which is exactly why misinformation peddlers are so dangerous. Human beings rely on other people for knowledge and most people only provide the information that benefits them while leaving out the information that doesn’t, or worse, they lie. I think humans greatest problem to overcome is our propensity to be largely misinformed on most of the topics that develop our beliefs.
