If you draw a lines between XLSX cells, it still shows the most of them.

Maybe you should save in standardized open Formats in Word
probably fair to assume word documents are often being opened by people who did not author them
While I think your point stands, these tricky files are a real gold mine for the authors of the doc-importer.
I have a .doc of mine, I liked to use as a test case. I also opened a bug report with the old file a while back. Every year I would open it and print it. Last year it came out with only one 2mm variation in a certain tricky area - which I consider good enough.
So this is a done topic for me and my needs.
I highly encourage everyone who has such a real world file to file a bug report. It is being worked on, albeit slowly.
