Federal records have revealed that billionaire Elon Musk spent a quarter of a billion dollars to help win Trump the presidency, with most of this money coming into play in the final weeks of the campaign.
I feel like this is missing the forest for the trees. Elon was basically buying votes with his lottery, which there’s already laws against. It doesn’t show that we need “Campaign Finance Reform”, it shows that there’s a class of people who are above the law
Musk demonstrated that he’s above the law for so many times with all the pump and dump schemes he’s executed. Even his entry into the government was a part of a pump and dump scheme. Doge.
It’s two separate issues. A single person shouldn’t be able to pour that much money to influence an election. At the same time the justice system should have more teeth against the rich who openly break laws.
