Summary
The California House race between Michelle Steel and Derek Tran is the closest in the nation, with Tran leading by 314 votes after nearly 310,000 ballots have been counted.
The outcome will determine the size of the Republican majority in the House and could be the second California seat picked up by Democrats.
Both campaigns are focusing on fixing rejected ballots to increase their chances of winning.
The other races are close, also. There are two others where the Republican is ahead by less than .2% , and they are still counting. And the last race is in Alaska, the Republican is currently up by 2% but they haven’t done the Ranked Choice voting calculations and there may be enough people who picked the Democrat 2nd to put her over the top.
While it’s unlikely that Democrats could manage to win all 4 of the remaining seats, if they do then Republicans would hold a slim 1-seat majority, which Beavis already resigned away. So unless Florida could schedule the special election quickly, the House could be evenly divided, even before a few GOP’ers leave for Trump’s cabinet
