Is it any wonder that Trump and Musk apparently have no idea that the Government Accountability Office already exists and that DOGE itself is inefficient and redundant?

    Fucking. Morons.

Like NO ONEs ever thought of having independent permanent auditors on government before. I cant slam my face into my hand hard enough, or slam my hand hard enough into their faces. Idiots.

as stupid as this is right now, consider the absolute certainty that the next Democrat administration will treat “DOGE” as a totally normal and irreplaceable part of our sacred norms, just like Biden did with “space force” and the border wall. in 8 years or so, you will hear Democrats campaigning on the threat that the next Republican president will undermine the necessary work that the DOGE has been doing to implement “bipartisan social security reform”.

To be fair, Space Force was a systems thing that was planned/expected/in the works. Trump just took credit and made it a spectacle. But your point stands on so many things that at least seemed like they could have been undone.

Also: Conflict of interest that you must register for Twitter to apply?

Also: “Department of Government Ef” accurate

Privatization, austerity, and dismantling systems of social safety are absolutely systems things. The problem is that they can’t be openly planned because of the public backlash. So they need a lightning rod character with the public perception of the necessary audacity, idiocy, and earnestness to make it happen. But I think OP is right that once it’s in place, it will be normalized by the establishment because they need to do this as part of managing the collapse of empire.

an example so perfect it actually slipped my mind. a federal department dedicated to domestic political policing and ethnic cleansing made up on the spot, and now it’s totally normalized.

It is funny how the department of efficiency is adopting the toxic corporate culture demanding ridiculously long work hours. I get that it is a tool of social control and a way of making people feel important but from an efficiency point of view it is absolutely bonkers, nobody is going to perform efficiently after 12 hours of work.

My humble prediction is that doge Elon’s main contribution to the federal government will be forcing a bunch of private sector inefficiencies on it.

I barely work efficiently on 6-8 hr shifts lol, I take “shits” (I don’t actually shit, I just watch TikTok and peruse Lennygrad) and water breaks like every hour, if I worked a 12 hr shift I’d realistically be working like 10 1/2 hrs and dicking around for an hour and taking a 30 min break

I’m wondering how much damage they can actually do, without it getting bogged down in federal judge blocking and legal battles and such.

That’s the funny side. These Muppets don’t seem to get that you can’t have neoliberal deregulation without a robust state. You know that if a left wing party ever gained power the bureaucracy would resist every step of the way. It’ll be no different when that same bureaucracy eats and sees itself being eaten. The hidden-power-level zealots might be keen. Until someone lays them off under the same programme. Chaos under the heavens.

As much as I may despise the US government and what it stands for, I wouldn’t create a government agency that spells out a cringe acronym, like MAO (the Military Administartive Office) or some dumb bullshit like that, it’s always cringe when a Bill purposely becomes an acronym

Kind of makes me wonder what other organisations and things throughout history were originally named after some kind of in joke or meme that has been lost to history.

I took that habit from Dwarf Fortress tbh. Every megaproject or spanning organization must either be acronym’d or backronym’d with a dwarf-themed, Doofenschmirtz-esque name that explains what it is and what it does.

I physically hate knowing the blood emerald melon man does the same thing.

80+ hour weeks??? They just want actual slaves.

I bet you the position pays 60-70k or something equally laughable when compared to the 80 hour a week price tag.

People will just see 60-70k and thing that’s great while they have to work what is essentially two jobs. So a realistic salary is 30-35k.

Edit: maybe not so great if looking at average salary lol what the fuck
