Finance day at COP29 began with protests at the UN climate conference venue.

The activists said there can be no more delay in providing the “trillions, not billions” in climate finance for vulnerable communities that continue to pay the price of a climate crisis caused by the emissions of rich countries.

“If developing countries want to avert runaway climate breakdown, they need to repay the debt owed to the Global South.”

Activists have also linked the war in Gaza to the climate crisis. They say Western governments and the fossil fuel industry are driving both.

With many of them wearing Palestinian keffiyehs, dozens of protesters gathered inside the COP29 venue. They say there can be no climate justice without human rights.

The US under Trump is going to pull out of the Paris Climate Agreement and probably no longer going to COPs. They are the biggest supporter of Israel and climate reparations are going to be a very hard sell, with the largest historic emitter not paying anything at all. Actually it is even worse as the US already is giving less then other historical emitters. So best case is that mainly Europe pays for the US share as well and stops its support for Israel.

Also the headline is deliberatly missleading. Gaza is obviously not a massive topic at a COP.

I agree with what you say. Also about the headline, it was the one that was suggested from the “Generate title” thingy - so I just changed it to what is on the actual article.

Why would anyone go to COPS? It’s just a meeting for the world’s biggest polluters to hob nob, to give a platform to climate misinformation, and to use as an excuse to arrest climate protestors.

By the way, Elon Musk’s wealth alone is enough money to essentially stop climate change. Him and Bezos, that’s enough money to reverse the damage.

We only need to sacrifice these two people to save the human race.
