How many American “hostages” even exist in the world? This sounds like a US imperialism amendment more that anything else.

SEC. 4. Termination of tax-exempt status of terrorist supporting organizations.

Who the US chooses to designate as a “terrorist” is largely bullshit for the purposes of empire. Fucking Cuba is on the “State Sponsor of Terrorism” list. I think this will be used for things like suppressing Palestinian rights groups.

Al Jazeera: US set to vote on anti-NGO bill that could target pro-Palestinian groups

United States legislators are set to vote on a bill that would grant the US Department of the Treasury broad authority to revoke the tax-exempt status of nonprofit organisations it deems to be supporting “terrorism”, raising fears that the legislation will be used against pro-Palestinian and other rights groups.

The Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act, or HR 9495, will be voted on in the US House of Representatives later on Tuesday.

There’s no reason for the Republican party to listen to our pleas. Are the Democrats going to learn any lessons from their election loss last week and push back against US imperialism? I doubt it, but we shall see.
