Not gonna lie I’m nervous that this time around these people might be chudifying. I wanna be optimistic that people can be reasoned into a more radicalized point of view but it kinda seems like the initial reaction is to either check out or become horrifying.

Libs might just accept Trump as the new normal and get on board. Maybe they just need a week to simmer down or something but I don’t remember this part of the reaction in 2016.

this is what I’ve had trouble putting into words. I’m now internalizing just how primed the white moderate is for morphing into a chud.

You’re right too, it wasn’t like this in 2016. Libs back then fell into a wormhole of anti-reality. They tricked themselves into beliving they were an organized resistance and got deep in the weeds with conspiracy theories. They seriously thought that any day now Trump would be faulted on a technicality that would remove him from office. I think now in 2024 they realize there’s just nothing they can do. They already tried pee tapes, leaking his tax returns, impeaching him, leaking audio, doing the whole Russia thing, and none of it stuck. He won, again. So the liberal mind doesn’t have anywhere else to go but grumbling spite that only goes in one direction if you’re a white suburban comfortable liberal - blaming immigrants and gay people for everything.

I agree. I think for a lot of liberals, they’re liberals because it’s a path of least resistance for them as a political identity. The chuds’ win this election season makes it more appealing than ever to just get on board with Trumpism.

I think thats a part of it, but I also think they’ve cut their imaginations out and can’t imagine anything but the choices offered by what they see as the rightful authority.

They’ll be angry they have to be chuds, but that’s the choice daddy offered; be chud or die. Maybe it’s a consequence if equating human authority with (our limited understanding of) the fundamental behaviors of like physics.

A lot of these libs were always chuds with a thin coat of progressive paint, similar to the whole scratch a lib and a fascist bleeds. Push comes to shove, most faux progressive libs are indistinguishable from their conservative lib cousins and vice-versa.

I think a lot of it is failure of imagination.

I give tankies a lot of shit, maybe deservedly, but the most important difference between your average authoritarian tankie and a shit lib isn’t basic compassion¹ or a willingness to resist¹, its that they can fucking imagine something other than what an authority figure offers them. They can comprehend and voice the word “no.” when theres nothing on offer they can tolerate. Thats the difference between a comrade I dont always agree with and a lib.

Libs mostly can’t, I dont think. And they’re angry about it, they hate not having an option they like, but the cops in their heads are too strong. They will pick from the options authority presents, even if its flavors of genocide, because their morality is entirely about choosing from options presented as ‘strong’ to avoid conflict.

This is why they always betray everyone and side with the blustery fascists.

¹just not the most important one

You joined 15 hours ago; flock directly to anarchist spaces and then start lambasting tankies which is a majority of the users here. We have a few anarchists; but they are allies of tankies and communists…not enemies. In this short period of time, you’re not going to elaborate on that either? “Not the time?”

We support China. We support the Soviet Union and the DPRK. We critically (important word) support Russia. You’re free to have your disagreements but all of this combined is a supermassive red flag.

Read the rest of what I said. Literally the rest of what I said. Like every word other than the ones quoted. Promise you come out of that post looking pretty good on balance.

And yes, I’m a Russian bot literally robocop, but with posting instead of punching.

I did. No one is accusing you of being a bot or fed. It’s just strange. I was asking for more clarification or perhaps am curious on what “issues” you differ on.

If you want to not say anything, that’s fine. Have a good day to ya then.
