      Liberalism in its idealist conception of the world has liberals think power is (and treat it as) its own self-contained virtue and ethos rather than as a practical expression of dialectical means to a materialist end, as a practically-expressed ability and capability of material will-enforcement for individuals/groups/classes etc upon their material conditions and antagonistic forces.
