Am I alone in being completely in being against all frame generation due it it being simulated gameplay? I max out ever graphics setting but disable DLSS/FSR and play on native with a lower FPS.

To each their own, of course, if you prefer not to use the features. But it’s not actually simulating any gameplay, it’s just interpolating new frame data from already-rendered frames. The actual game logic isn’t being simulated or affected at all. You can think of it as just smoothing out the end result, which has already been computed by the game engine.

That being said, I’m not sure how it would impact a game that has incorrectly tied its game logic directly to the framerate. My guess is the interpolation step still happens after all that occurs, which means it would still not affect actual gameplay, but someone who knows more can correct me if I’m wrong.

      For me, entirely the opposite.

I just bought the Lossless Scaling app on Steam for my RTX 3070. That shit is magic on the 144Hz 4K TV that my gaming PC is connected to. I play games exclusively with a gamepad, so I notice absolutely zero input latency.

I have fully drunk the frame gen Kool-Aid.

    • I had no opinion until just the other day when I tried it in Ghost of Tsushima for the first time because it was recommended for my setup; but it actually looked worse while just making the FPS counter stay at 60.

And it turned out that what really was wrecking my framerste ended up being FSR’s dynamic resolution scaling; I forgot to turn it off. For some reason, it constantly stutters down to 40 or below in pretty much everything I’ve ever used it on. Games actually run better with a set, static, native resolution. 🤷🏻‍♂️
