“Amazon is full of Chinese crap!”
Well yeah dude, when you buy from the resellers selling a $10 item for $100 you’re obviously not gonna get $100 of value.
Imagine moving all your manufacturing to China and then complaining that all your stuff is made in China
“They were supposed to be our cheap labor, not learn how to make things!”
That will never not be funny to me as someone who works in manufacturing. Of course they’re going to learn how to make stuff, you have to give them the blueprint so they can make it in the first place lmfao. Another one that is still pervasive is the idea that Chinese steel is still inferior to American steel. Bud China makes so much of the world’s steel you would have to be dog shit stupid to believe we don’t have tons of bridges and buildings made out if it.
People are stuck in time. They still think china is making mini mill steel and cheap plastic trinkets. Sure that was the start, and yes they’re still doing that, but starting with that knowledge base with wealth and time they have learned A LOT. They also have a society that invests in and highly values education. All these things combined and they’re whipping our asses
I have to explain to Lemmitors over & over: where do you think your iPhones & other smartphones and laptops come from? What country has more high speed rail than all others combined? Which country has its own space station? The evidence is right in front of their noses.
It’s a riot tbh when people are like “I’m not buying that cheap Chinese shit I want a DeWalt” or whatever when its the exact same tool just unbranded
I will say when it comes to stuff like that it’s not exactly the same. When talking about manufactured good coming from China the way a lot of that is done is through many subcontractors being brought together in order to make a product. So for example a dewalt drill is made in China, but all the components are not made at a “dewalt” factory in China, dewalt chooses which subcontractors are going to provide x, y, z parts and then they are assembled as ordered by dewalt. China could then make a different drill using the same subcontractors as dewalt, but most likely they use some of the same ones, but then for certain components they use a different subcontractor to keep the cost down. In the end you have two different drills that look like they came from the same factory. Functionally it may or may not be the same, it all depends on what contractors they used.
Chinese steel varies in quality just like everywhere else.
I can say that there are some kinds of steels they aren’t as good at yet, or at least aren’t consistently branding so that you can find them, but that mostly comes down to heat treatment of near-finishee steels that is current a semi-“artisinal” market. I’m sure that will go by the wayside in a few years as they develop better and better tools steels.
Yes I agree, but since I work in manufacturing I talk about material a lot with my coworkers and they all swear that ALL Chinese made ANYTHING is just bad.
That’s so dumb Chinese stuff is great and often superior.
Last I checked, stuff on Amazon is about $10 more expensive than the same thing on Ali. Something that costs $1 becomes $11, something that costs $60 becomes $70.
Same is true here in the states. There’s some horror stories about temu w theft of cc numbers and stuff but it’s hard to tell if that’s real or propaganda.
Once people catch on though amazon is kinda fucked.
Your credit card company should have a “virtual card” option you can use on a one-time basis to reduce risk.
OOO OOO TEMU OOO OOO TEMU
Anything small is cheaper on aliexpress. Large heavy items, shipping will be high, so you can probably buy large/heavy items cheaper locally, since they will order in bulk. I bought a Lenova tablet off aliexpress, that was over $100 cheaper than buying the same model/specs off bestbuy.
So but fr is Temu safe/okay to use in :western-world-emoji: ? I’ve heard bad things about it like they’re spying on you in the app and stuff but so does meta so
It’s structured as a behavioralist skinner box nightmare slot machine, so i would say no, it is not safe at all.

In terms of trying to latch on to your brain’s reward system and manipulate your behavior temu is the most aggressive website, or any other attempt, i’ve encountered outside actual casinos and maybe mid 10s mcdonalds.

As in, you’re saying it’s unsafe because you can’t reliably expect to deliver even half-decent quality products? Because that seems fair to me with how cheap the prices are. My mate ordered some cheap designed pins to put on his backpack which looked just fine, he quit the app because of le china spying
Idk what the behavioralist skinner box metaphor is supposed to imply. The app is constructed as a casino to exploit gambling addictions. It’s really, realy, really aggressively trying to hijack your brain using gambling mechanics and every other dirty trick.
I don’t know about Temu but I use AliExpress frequently in lieu of getting the same item from a reseller on Amazon. Over the years I’ve had a couple of things just not show up ever, but that’s rare - most of the time everything goes as expected. I tend to pick items that have photos from reviewers, and I don’t buy stuff that goes into my mouth/otherwise enters my body.
AliExpress is totally fine to use
Honestly I’ve never had anything not arrive, everything came, sometimes slower than others. But lately they’ve been really good, especially if you buy from their “choice” shipped from AliExpress options
You can just use their website and be 100% sure that way.
You can also make a separate phone profile to install it to assuming you’re on Android.
Generally speaking they’re just collecting whatever info your phone will give to them and they’re going to use it for marketing purposes. They have zero power to do anything to you outside of slightly more targeted marketing. The “spying” is things like making a list of what other apps you’re running.
it is, though soon it might not be worthy of use, Polish version is getting to hell very rapidly for example.
Support local business!
thats a asian “nicer dicer” isnt it ?
