    Those look like the pineapple guava we used to have! Probably a localism for the same thing. Delicious lil fruits!

    A quick Google (oh my goodness Google worked, stop the presses!) reveals they are the same thing! I would encourage everyone to try one if you see them at the store/market.

    In my case it’s because I grew up with a massive ferjoa tree in my backyard and I’ve already had a lifetime’s supply of the smell and taste. We had so many that we even used them as ammunition when we were having “wars” with other kids from the street.
